Next to letting you know what I want you to know about me, I'll give you some references from right here on the web that illustrate what and who I am. Partly, perhaps, but if you can get into the spirit of these things you might be able to get some kind of picture of me. Then again, you might not.
First of all, there's:
Of which I am a major fan, both the book and the film.
The English Patient Unofficial Homepage is only about the film, but it contains a vast amount of sounds, pictures and filmclips, together with information about and references to the main actors.
The Cave of Swimmers is in itself quite interesting, although again it is focused on the film more than the book (actually, it's only about the film). Much the same as the unofficial site, it contains pictures, sounds and clips (though different ones).
Click here for more English Patient Links.
Then there is my Greatest Hero of All Time:

Indeed, Leonard Cohen. There is one page on the web which, I think, contains pretty much all there is to find on him and a list of books which tell even more. Leonard Cohen himself has sent several of his latest poems to this site, together with drawings he made. All this makes the lousy Midi-rendition of Suzanne playing in the background forgivable. The name of the page?
There's another page about him which is also alright, but contains less original stuff and this one's called: Bird on a Wire; The Leonard Cohen Homepage.
Click here for more Cohen links.
These two 'things' are the main elements of what occupies me right now, but there's more. For example:

The various Pulp pages on the internet. The two main ones are the Official Pulp Website and Space, pages for the band Pulp, though you could also try Pulp World.
Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and Barnes & Noble Bookstore from which I've been able to get many an ISBN of books I thought didn't exist. Hm. Both claim to be the biggest, but I've always been able to find more at Amazon. You could also have a look at Waterstone's Booksellers, Dillons or at the link with one of the shortest URLs I've ever seen: The British Library. Alternatively you could have a look at the Dutch Internet bookstores Boeknet© and American BookCenter. Alternatively, you could visit Acses' extensive list of Internet book retailers.
The countless Beatles pages on the internet which thankfully have been comprehensively arranged at The Ultimate Rock Cyclopedia Beatles Link. I know, a really sad name, but it's a good way to find your way around With the Beatles.
Click here for more (solo) Beatles links.
The Internet Movie Database, which, although not complete, is very comprehensive and still contains more films than I can shake a stick at. You can also try Hollywood Online, the totally unofficial, but reputedly influential Ain't it Cool News, or the website of the magazine Empire Online. For Dutch film-fans there's also the VPRO 24h Cinema.
And while we're in the entertainment section, check out Mr. Showbiz, which is an excellent page for people who want to know a bit more about tv, film and music.
If you're a wannabe writer, why not have a look at Research & Resource for Writers? I never did.
The Official Star Wars Web Site because Star Wars rules, man. Now that Episode I is forthcoming, check out the information gathered on JediNets's Prequel Watch, which'll also tell you about the other two prequels, or try The Force.Net. And for those interested in Boba Fett in particular, the Boba Fett Multimedia Vault is a good source for Boba-stuff (and they used to have a cool logo).
Harmony Central© Guitar Tablature has been a great resource for all those songs for which I was too lazy to figure out (which are most).
Softseek Desktop Enhancements where I found many small programmes and screensavers which made my life on the computer a little more fun. Also great for screensavers, web authoring tools, iconmakers, and other things to entertain yourself with when you're bored.

Naturally, I would never be complete without a reference to the university that I'm studying at right now in order to become a teacher (of all professions), the Vrije Universiteit.
I would also not be complete if I did not shamelessly plug the homepages of the only two people I've met in real life whom I know have a homepage. (Are you with me still? Good.)
The first one is Bean Here Now; Bean's homepage. It's also an Oasis and a Bottom homepage. Oddly enough, you won't find Mr. Bean there.
Second in the list is the page called Hi. No, it's not a cellphone advertisement, but the homepage of my cousin. It's not really useful to go there right now unless you're Marc Dutroux as it only contains 1 (count it) baby picture. Exactly the same goes for his StarTours page (including the baby picture). Updates as events warrant.
For anyone who wants to know about the Antitrust case against Microsoft, I recommend the following sites: CNN, Wired, and of course the Justice Department.
There are of course millions of weird and unbelievable websites around, and it would be too much to even begin to mention any number of them, but there is one exception that I know of which is truly remarkable. What I mean is the Bert is Evil website. Have a look and have a laugh.
For those of you who: a) speak Dutch, and: b) like a bit of soap, try reading the mainly self-ridiculing accusations of two Internet providers. World Online and World Access/Planet Internet both claim to be the biggest provider, and both accuse the other one of lying. And both make complete arses of themselves in the process...
Hands up, who wants to live forever? Well, tough for those who do, 'cos you're bound to die at some point. If, however, you would like to be remembered, here's two chances to do that. This first is BBC 20CVox, where you can record a message about what you remember of this century. The second is Nasa's Sign Up for Mars! Well, you can't actually sign up to get there, but your name could be one of the one million names that will travel with the Mars probe launched in 1999. Oh yeah, the catch is that it's for kids only. And while we're on the topic of kids, check out the fantastically surreal CIA's Homepage for Kids. It really exists!

Hey, and while you're linking to sites anyway, why not try "Jardin qu'un dieu sans doute a pos sur les flots..." Ile Maurice. It's a website about Mauritius Island.
If you haven't been able to find anything you like you should have a look at the Mining Co. website. It's a kind of search engine, but run by people rather than machinery so you're guarenteed to find someting of interest and no useless crap. It's good.
