[My Bookcase]

Maurice Reads a Book

Actually, quite a few books. Some better than others, but books nonetheless which can be qualified as literature, one way or another. This page is set up to let those who have no idea what to read next perhaps be inspired to pick up one of the following books. I won't bore you with any top 10s or anything like that, just an blatant division between some of the many different genres as there are:

Bedside reading tells you what's currently on my night table.

Filmed books, this selection is of course a mixture of all genres, but these are the novels that were made into a film.

Literature, by which I mean books that focus on content more than form, though style is (of course) still highly important in these books! It's a bit of a vague definition, I know, and it basically encompasses everything I've read and enjoyed, but have a look and you'll know what I mean.

Contemporary books, which are those books that either will only have a curiosity value in ten years after their publishing, or just don't cut it as literature.

Academic books, which section (I hope) will speak for itself. It's where I show how smart I am...

Historical books, under which I class all books from before this century (soon to be before the 20th Century).

Miscellaneous books, where I have placed all the books which I couldn't place under any of the other headings.

If you couldn't find the book you're looking for in a particular genre, try to think whether it's been filmed, since a novel may be dislocated in a particular genre which might not at all be that obvious.

So have a look if you care to read something else than your computer screen and if you have a book which you think I should read, tell me, I'm, as always, not interested.
